U.S. House of Representatives Born in Casper, Wyoming, March 14, 1948. A graduate of Muskogee High School in 1966, Coburn went on to earn a B.S. in accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1970. From 1970 to 1978, he served as the Manufacturing Manager for the Ophthalmic Division of Coburn Opticals in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He later graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1983, and was a surgery resident at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City during 1983 and 1984. He was later at the University of Arkansas Area Health and Education Center in Ft. Smith, from 1984 to 1986. Since 1986, Coburn has maintained a medical practice in Muskogee, where he specializes in family medicine and obstetrics. He is a member of the American Medical Association, and has completed medical missions to Haiti and Iraq. He and
his wife, Carolyn, have three children: Callie, Katie, and Sarah.
