U.S. Senate Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, December 6, 1948. Nickles graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Business Administration degree. In 1977, he won his first elective officeState Senator for District 20. He served in the National Guard from 1970 until 1976. Nickles was elected to the U.S. Senate November 4, 1980. Currently, he is the Assistant Majority Leader (Senate Majority Whip). In addition to chairing various subcommittees, he belongs to the ten-member U.S. Senate Arms Control Observer Group to monitor U.S.-Soviet negotiations. He and his wife, Linda, have four children. |
