Application and Guidelines for the 2012
Traveling Archivist Program

The Oklahoma Historical Records Advisory Board (OHRAB), administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, is accepting applications for its 2012 Traveling Archivist Program (TAP).

In partnership with the Oklahoma Museums Association, TAP provides the services of a professional Archivist/Conservator Consultant who will help organizations develop written Preservation Plans. The consultant will assess possible risks to materials, address fire protection and security concerns, evaluate policies and procedures as they apply to preservation, provide recommendations for improving preservation practices, and review the general condition of archival materials and make recommendations for improvement.

Up to 20 TAP awards will be made in Oklahoma. Geographical locations will be considered to ensure that all regions of the state have repositories participating.

Organizations completing the program are eligible to receive funding from OHRAB to address one or more of the recommendations in their completed preservation plan.

Each participating organization must complete an organizational self-assessment covering mission, policies, risk management, public relations, storage, and facility conditions.
