ODL’s Reading Roundup Kicks off this October!

Reading Roundup
The agency joins forces with some great partners to bring Oklahoma author programs to five communities this fall. It’s the first year of a four-year project that is placing selected books—children’s and young adult titles that have been honored as medalists or finalists in the Oklahoma Book Awards competition—in public libraries across the state. Archives and Records Commission Sets Meeting

The Oklahoma Archives and Records Commission will hold a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.  The meeting will be held in Room 412A at the State Capitol.  Interested parties can download and review an agenda.

Register for the 2015 First Amendment Congress

High school students, teachers, librarians, other educators, and anyone interested in helping our young people understand the First Amendment are invited to the Congress, which will be held on November 4 at UCO’s Constitution Hall in Edmond. This year’s event will highlight some of the First Amendment challenges and controversies young citizens have experienced on Oklahoma’s high school campuses. Registration Now Open for Fall Certification Classes

ODL’s Complete Confederate Pension Records Now Online

In 1915, Oklahoma’s Fifth Legislature approved a bill that provided pensions for disabled and indigent Confederate soldiers, sailors, and their widows. ODL’s complete application and pension files have now been added to Digital Prairie, joining the existing pension index files. Start your search here!
